Hướng Dẫn Kỹ Thuật Phiên Dịch Anh Việt Việt Anh (PDF 2CD VCD)

qqqDịch là một nghề nghiệp. Nghề dịch có hai ngành khác nhau rất cơ bản. Đó là dịch viết hay biên dịch (translation) và dịch nói hay phiên dịch (interpreting). Nếu chúng ta cho rằng dịch viết phải tầm chương trích cú thì dịch nói phải đủ ý và rõ ràng. Mỗi loại dịch lại có những tiêu chí riêng đối với người dịch. Chẳng hạn dịch viết đòi hỏi người biên dịch (translator) có khả năng khai thác tư liệu một cách phong phú và đa dạng thì dịch nói đòi hỏi người phiên dịch (interpreter) phải có trí nhớ tốt (good memory), đặc biệt là trí nhớ tạm thời (short term memory). Đồng thời mỗi loại dịch lại có một số kỹ thuật riêng để thực hiện nhiệm vụ dịch thuật.
Ngành phiên dịch có hai loại hình khá khác biệt: dịch đuổi (consecutive interpreting) và dịch song song (simultaneous interpreting). Trong loại hình dịch đuổi, phiên dịch đợi cho diễn giả (speaker) nói hết một đoạn ngắn đủ nghĩa, dừng lại, rồi mới bắt đầu dịch. Cứ như vậy phiên dịch "đuổi" theo diễn giả cho đến hết cuộc nói chuyện.
Trong loại hình dịch song song, phiên dịch được trang bị tai nghe (headphone) để nghe diễn giả nói, nói đến đâu phiên dịch dịch đến đó. Đại biểu cũng thường dùng tai nghe (headphone, earphone) để nghe lời dịch, thông qua một hệ thống thiết bị dịch song song (interpreting facilities). Theo cách dịch song song phiên dịch có khi chỉ đi sau diễn giả một câu.
